NEC Develops 55-Nano Chip Technology

TOKYO—Japan’s NEC Electronics Corp. has developed a technology to make advanced microchips with circuitry width of 55-nanometres, or billionths of a meter, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun business daily said on Sunday.

Finer circuitry decreases the size of a chip and cuts per-unit production costs. It also helps chips process data faster.

    smartCharger

    Heavy Moon out of Japan has released the “smartCharge” adapter for a car cigarette lighter. It appears as though it is designed for use with the iPod shuffle—given the Shuffle is using rechargeable batteries—but theoretically it could be used with almost any rechargeable USB device, just so we don’t want to jump to any iPod-based conclusions. Thirty-two bucks will make this all yours over in Japan.
